“Creative engagements wake us up to the task of contributing to human history by accepting the challenge to compose our own story.” These words from Peter London in No More Second Hand Art echo what I have been thinking for many years. I am leaving my thoughts, my history in the fabric and quilts that I make. In some way all of the designs that I make are tied to current events and my emotional reaction to them. Whether it is a graduation, birth, war, death, marriage or travel. The chosen images and patterns reflect my thoughts in a language known to me and possibly understood by others, but not necessarily. These are my unique gifts to history and my motivation for engaging in art.
A side effect of creating is the deep emotional satisfaction of making something beautiful.
