“My eyes are dazzled by the patterns and textures of the natural world close at hand… the bark of birch and sycamore trees… the elegant stripes in bamboo trunks... the formidable beauty of cactus spines.
But the distant perspective from an airplane window is equally mesmerizing… the soft geometry and subtle coloration of plowed fields… the calligraphy of branching rivers… even the patterns of asphalt and concrete in suburbia appear pleasingly organic.
Creating imagery with such everyday items as erasers, pieces of plastic, kitchen hardware and newly fallen leaves, I work with fiber-reactive dyes to build abstract designs that satisfy in the close view as well as the far view.”
